Art Brunch im Bad #13: Kathrin Velik / Maryam Mohammadi / Joachim Hainzlkopfbahnhof bad gleichenbergSunday April 24, 11:00 a.m. Kathrin Velik, fine artist at Schaumbad, Freies Atelierhaus Graz, and her young culture project: kopfbahnhof bad gleichenberg, a sociocultural network and place of events for contemporary art and cultural contemporary. At "Art Brunch im Bad" the planned project “Tempel-Treff” [temple-meeting] is going to moot to a discussion: The construction of the trainstation of Bad Gleichenberg from the 30’ies is very attractive. Therefor it was declared as a landmark. In particularly it is determined to be a public space. Therefor Kathrin Velik has prepared the location as one of the public dialogue to approach and as residence of art. As station it has always been a place to define arrival and departure. Train stations have always been waiting time locations for refugees on there trip from Greece to Styria. Places of hope and fear. Transit stations and forced layovers on a way to a new life. At the terminal station finally a designation is achieved. The Waiting room XXXX promises relaxation, communication and encounter with new things. Bad Gleichenberg in southerneast of Styria called “Vulkanland”, near the triple-point Austria-Hungary-Slowenia has a long tradition as a therapeutic bath and spa. And therefor in the discourse OR DEALINGS with guests and tourism [in german the word contains traffic of foreigners] But how does the population deal with the influx of 126 refugees? Tempel-Treff [temple meeting] The planned sociocultural intervention should promote the process of integration in the municipal over a longer period. Tempel-Treff should also observe and document the process. The different stadiums of the social sculpture will be presented once in a month, respectively on the first Sunday as part of the seriel “cross cultural borders”. At those events they will receive a thorough examination, extended and primarily partied as well as extraverted. The project deliberately tends on positive things. Which has to be developed, so that the situation can be learned to be seen as resource. “Special guests” and their presentations broad public. “Tempel-Treff” is social sculpture inviting in Beuys’ spirit to react concertedly and across several planes, to the challenges of the human stream seeking refugees in Europe. The many encounters caused by the joint creative process for the room installation “Tempel Treff” in weekly workshops* and in the open atelier* let – as a base for sustained integration, social inclusion happen. The workshops of this work in progress will be equally offered as well to refugees and locals. In highly compressed Form knowledge transfer/networking and awareness-raising working activities will happen. Tools for art-production are presented, which will be applied and advanced in the “open atelier”. “cross cultural borders brunches” supper respectively during Ramadan. Let them experience development both out of artistic and social sculptural sight without evaluation but to optimize. From both cultural features (Kulturkreis) homemade is dished up, music is played and in changing exhibitions you can see contemporary art. Small-format will be shown (an artist – an opus) as cultural intro for a discourse at which all parties concerned, the interested public and friends participating and enrich experts of social-culture, philosophy and art. The waiting-room of the former train-station will be a sacred place, meeting-point and working-place. The project will be animated through an exchange with the following cooperation-partners and their contributions.
