FACES: Women in Media /Pula

20 years of interactions, connections and collaborations

1. September 2017 at 20:00: presentation, videos, networking
Galerija Makina, Kapitolinski trg 1, Pula / Croatia

In 2017 we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the international mailinglist "FACES", a network of women in media arts. "FACES" was founded in 1997 in Austria, with strong connections to Slovenia and Croatia. Since then, the network has been growing continuously.

FACES has built its base from meetings with communities of women around the world, in person and virtually, bringing a borderless sense of communication, giving new possibilities for creative online projects - performance, spoken word, sound, and theoretical discussion.

At Galerija Makina in Pula, Eva Ursprung will present the history of FACES and show some examples of the works of list members:
Audio interviews with Boryana Rossa (Bulgaria), Nina Sobell (USA), Helen Varley Jamieson (New Zealand).

Videos by Marina Grzinic / Aina Smid (Croatia/Slovenia), Varsha Nair (Thailand), Myriam Thyes (Germany/Switzerland)

The exhibition in Graz will be curated by Kathy Rae Huffman and Eva Ursprung, in collaboration with Diana McCarty, Ushi Reiter and Valie Djordjevic. There will be presentations and videoscreenings at the IFCA Maribor from October 6th to 16th.

A cooperation of Schaumbad - Freies Atelierhaus Graz; IFCA (International Festival of Computer Arts), MRFU Maribor; Galerija Makina, Pula; Ursprung Tonträger, Strantschitschach.

Funded by Alps-Adriatic-Alliance (Alpen-Adria-Allianz)
